sunspiral for the heat wave
Got it colored in, with Acryla-Gouache and Caran d’Ache water soluble crayons, 8/8/18
After work I spent the hot evening singing loud shape note songs with a bunch of friends. Then some of us found a swimming hole and floated around telling stories and looking at stars and fireflies. I didn’t get into my studio until I got home late. So here’s my drawing for the day, I only spent a minute, but it counts.
I am really enjoying ending my day with these line drawings. They’re black Acryla-Gouache on paper coated with a gray-tinted gesso. Slowly I’m coloring them with paint and crayon; I’ll post the colored versions on the page with the original line drawing when done, and maybe do a separate post with a gallery.
This is the first time in these 8+ years of daily drawings that I’ve been revisiting a series over time instead of drawing it on the day, posting it, and filing it away in a pile. I’ve done that here and there if a particular drawing didn’t feel quite done when I posted it, but this feels different, more intentional and organized.
