Got my 2nd Covid booster, which gave me an all-day headache.
Go, immune system, go!

While on vacation I didn’t try to do much observational painting. Instead, I worked on figuring out how to draw Celtic-style interlace. I’m sure there are books and tutorials, but I needed to occupy my mind and hands, and treating these as a puzzle was soothing and calming. Here are my workpages, and you can see I even got a couple finished that I feel pretty happy with.

I had a long work day and not as much studio time as I wished (also tired!) but I think you can see where this is heading. I am imagining dense overall patterning, and thinking about colors. But still a few sessions away from finished.
I’m not entirely sure about this change of posting progress rather than daily inspiration, but it’s what I want to do for now, so I’m going with it.

The scan is a bit blurry because the paper is still attached to a board that doesn’t quite fit on the bed. But here you go, progress of the day. I am really enjoying this retreat into repetitive, meditative process. i imagined the face as being more simple and generic than it turned out, but I’m leaving it as is till the other busy stuff gets sorted.

Here’s the state of things today. I guess I’ll make separate posts of progress, I expect this will take at least one or two more sessions to get to where I’ll call it done. There are a couple more waiting for further steps, so it’s possible that I won’t post many more of the usual thing before I take my usual week away from the internet at the end of June.
