  1. I love the simplicity in this, often I wonder if my paintings aren’t complex enough but I think a more visceral approach is enough and actually conveys more than a complex painting. There is just so much the human eye can take in and we take in just enough to get the gist and then have a reaction. Your painting cuts to the chase and conveys so much that goes beyond just elements. Your painting helps to remind me of this fact….thank you! in short, I love your painting ! Using photos and your memory does the trick.

    1. Thank you! I think you are quite brave to post your source/reminder photos along with the watercolors. I haven’t done enough observational work to really think about the connection between what I see and how I record or interpret it. And it’s so much more about interpretation than about recording!

      1. I think that I like to have people get an idea and peek into my world, my inspiration…what I am trying to convey. I am not concerned anymore in trying to record exactly what I see but rather record what I “feel” about the scene….or as you put it… interpretation. I much prefer that and I value that rather than seeing a piece of art that is too realistically done. Your painting reminded me of this continuing struggle as how far one needs to go to convey an artists’ vision. 🙂
