The image of the stars comes directly from a beautiful quilt which was on display at the Parliament of the World’s Religions. It was made by women from Israel and Palestine, and is on tour to be displayed around the world.
I don’t know if the world’s population of Monarch butterflies is rebounding, but I’ve seen many more of them this summer than I have for many years. One was in my garden this afternoon, visiting the blooming asters and beebalm, and let me stay very close to admire them.
I got to the end of the day and was afraid I wouldn’t be able to sleep, as I was still haunted by a dream from the night before in which I sobbed helplessly while hearing a song listing the beautiful, complicated names of all the white horses that had been slain. Who would even do that, and why?
So I made this picture, and then yes, I did sleep.
