I keep hearing people use the phrase ‘spirit animal’. Well maybe this is one of them.
I’ll be away from scanner and computer for a week, taking an actual honest-to-goodness vacation. But I am bringing plenty of art supplies, so you may expect a chunk of catch-up posts when I return.

here comes the spirit of high summer. They were supposed to have wings but I was really tired. Maybe the wings are just folded up tight for landing.

In the Folklore Thursday Twitter feed I saw this post from Great Uncle Darkly:
“Moss Folk or Wood Wives are female spirits who weave the moss which covers trees. For every tree felled, a Wood Wife dies.”
Then I went walking on the mountain in the woods. Apparently the post stayed with me.
