I got to go to a very nice Christmas carol singing party, with 4-part harmonies and food and friends. None better.
ALT: crayon doodle, which purports to show angels singing, with purple wings and orange hats or halos, if you will. I was exhausted when I drew this, and didn’t spend more time on it than it took to make the marks. That probably shows.
ALT: fast doodle, graphite. two cats under a lightbulb. one is leaning in for a lick, they other is backing away. Yes, my cats provided the inspiration. They were playing the lick lick bite bite game as I headed out to draw.
In this year’s Welcome Yule! Mummers Play, we have two St. Georges and two dragons. Out with the old guard and in with the new, passing a tradition much older than both but re-invented with each generation.
ALT: crayon drawing. a purple dragon with big goofy eyes and a long snakey neck leans toward a blue knight who seems to be waving their sword almost conversationally as they tilt toward the dragon.
ALT: crayon and rubber stamps. ground of soft pastel colors, overlaid with winding lines in black and purple, and decorated with some rubber stamp printings mostly the letter W and numbers 6 (or 9?) and 7. what does it mean, well you might ask.
ALT: crayon drawing. an orange dog, head low and tail up, looking upward as if for confirmation, while investigating something that looks like it could be a slug with legs? i dunno.
ALT: crayon and acrylic paint. blue lines on brown background, a plant with leaves and a flower, a butterfly above. some lines of wind swirling through. a snail creeps below. at the moment, where i live, it’s all covered in snow and waiting out the cold and dark.
ALT: crayon drawing of an odd person apparently with two right arms, holding the sun and singing to it. they look vaguely tribal – topknot and tattoos, sorry i’m a bit embarrassed about that but it’s what fell out of my brain onto the paper.
ALT: crayon drawing. gray and ochre abstract background, calligraphic figure on top. Something like a dancing sad spirit, with reference to skeletons and old graveyard angel wings.
ALT: crayon and gold ink. fast calligraphic doodle, looks like some being running by. I did indeed get into the studio – but only for a minute or two. So this is what you get.
