We did take time to get out and walk around in a state park full of giant trees. There was a pervasive, heavy feeling of calm, quiet, and long long time.

We left SF and traveled up the coast, through redwood forest and by oceanfront. Stopped for a night in the lovely little town of Trinidad. I dreamed of getting out to walk among the trees on the next day.

I was so glad to have brought a full pile of colors with me on this 2-week trip, so I could retreat into them and play when I had the time.

After the first night on the train we stopped in Chicago for a few hours. It was enough time to walk to the waterfront, and around the parks there. I met my husband in Chicago in the ’80s, and have not spent much time there since we moved back east, so this was a real treat.

I am in the thick of trying to catch up with the rest of my life after two weeks away, but will start posting a few pictures a day until I catch up here!
The first day of travel: taking a train from Massachusetts to California! The start of a grand adventure, but I missed my furry buddies.

I dreamed vividly last night, that my friend was officiating the wedding I wish she hadn’t missed. On a white sand beach, wearing the bluest, shiniest mermaid queen gown. The bride and groom recounted the story of their romance using sleight of hand with oreo cookies. The parents were all dressed in white, and radiantly happy.
This will be my last post for about 2 weeks. When I get back to home and scanner, I’ll post whatever I’ve managed to draw while on the road. Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate; and may everyone find themselves in circles of love and gratitude with family and friends.

I spent 2 days too sick to get out of bed, so there are no drawings for the 20th or 21st. Hopefully recovering now, but I’m about to go traveling for 2 weeks, away from scanner and studio. I plan to keep drawing as time and energy permits, but the blog will be inactive until I get back and catch up.
Here’s a little wanderer to start off the journey.
