ALT: acrylic painting, abstract sort-of landscape. The sky and ground layer of the painting is a warm reddish yellow. There’s tangled foliage, dense on the lower left side, somewhat more open in the right, with something vertical growing up, I guess it could be tree trunks. The upper left corner is above all the tangle, and there are two red birds flying up there.
ALT: ink doodle of some creature with a big head, pointy ears, and a tail like a cow. They are wearing a polka dot skirt of sorts, and shoes with the laces properly tied. They have rosy cheeks that match the skirt’s dots. They are shown in profile, no apparent arms, but one leg outstretched as if to leave the picture.
ALT: Watercolor background which is mostly an exploration of textures and colors, green foliage, blue and purple shadows, yellow and orange flowers. It’s kind of a bit of lawn with maybe a hedge above and drifts of blooms from the right side. On that ground, as if in a different reality, there are 3 odd calligraphic stick figures, apparently a couple and one more trailing behind. The garden just wanted to be inhabited, I thought.
ALT: four stout but somewhat bent and leaning posts stick up out of water. A stream of spots float on the water like petals and then up into the sky to disappear in the clouds.
ALT: ink and crayon drawing. Three chicory-blue flowers with pointy petals stand in a group among stems and leaves. There’s a little snail on a leaf. The background is plain washes of pale peach and blues.
It’s spring and all, but also I recently heard that someone in my pub-sing community is very ill, and he has a humorous song about rabbits that he occasionally trots out. He’s been on my mind and maybe it’s showing.
ALT: water-soluble crayon and graphite drawing of a rabbit among leaves and grasses, looking poised to take off. There’s something that could be a stone or an egg sitting right behind it.
ALT: crayon drawing with vertical green and blue streaks, some darker green vertical lines with something like scrubby pine needle or birchbark cross-hatching. Black spiky branches in front of all that.
ALT: pencil and crayon drawing. A rather abstracted creature in while lines has a horse’s hind end and rather humanoid front half. The ground is green below, blue above, and pretty fiery red and gold between. On top of it all is a five-sided angular glyph that could be read as arrow-like if you’re thinking Sagittarius.
I did not get to my studio today because preparing and hosting the opening reception for my little show, which was lovely. I did get to practice flower arranging.
I submit Proof of Cake
and also proof of Kate, with Rose Watson, my Harmony Collective cake fairy
here are some pictures of the art I’m showing. It’s all from before my daily art practice, the late ’80s to the ’90’s. It has mostly lived in folders in drawers since then.
