I made this before I heard the news that the Supreme Court is ready to overturn Roe v. Wade. But it fits my mood.
I’m going to get up on my little soapbox for a moment and say, if the folks who want to legislate abortion bans really wanted to reduce the number of abortions, they would spend that energy on women’s health, child care, and economic support – things that have been shown to actually help women have wanted pregnancies and bring them to term. The fact that those “pro-life” people just want to picket clinics and criminalize procedures tells me that their goal is not to save fetuses but to control women. (stepping down off my soapbox and thinking about what I need to do next.)
Bad dream. I tried to run over this guy and punch him out but he wasn’t really there. But I couldn’t get him to shut up or leave me alone. And I couldn’t figure out who he was or what he wanted from me.
I spent the day with a group of good and dear friends that I haven’t been with in person since the start of the pandemic, doing a Restorative Justice workshop. Came home tired and unsettled. This reflects my feeling of being lovingly held as I faced my own shortcomings and learned tools for doing important community work.
