can’t catch me
ALT: coloring page, semi-inspired by Peter Max whose art i loved as a child and youngster. there’s a gingerbread man in the middle, and a moon full of owls below, and plants and paisleys taking up the rest of the space. color it with rainbows.
don’t want to think of a name for this one. choose your own.
ALT: crayon drawing. three figures are facing each other in some kind of interaction. the left one and the middle one have arms slightly linked. the right one faces them. they could be taking a walk or playing footsie, hard to tell. the middle one has a birdbeak and the right one has rabbity ears. make of it what you will.
lit sky
ALT: ink and crayon. rolling green-blue hills under a purple sky. two stark while swirls in the sky, and a forest of wavy vertical black lines. the hills are marked with ink lines that have the energy maybe of dancing or running people.
the fields beyond
ALT: crayon and ink, abstract. soft fields of red, yellow and green glow beyond a tangled network of black thick ink, like twisty branches in a dark woods.
winding to center
ALT: ink and watercolor. a ball of red yarn at the bottom right corner, lots of swooping concentric lines with lots of imaginary writing along them, enclose a space that has maybe two people, or maybe it’s just the nose of a cat poking through.
conspirators
I’m not spending much time drawing lately, but these doodles continue to amuse me so I carry on with the daily project.
ALT: ink and crayon doodle. a horse and a bird of some sort are head-to-head while a face that might belong to a sunflower of sorts looks a bit appalled. the horse is wearing green eyeshades, and the bird might be in a suit. if such a thing could be made to fit a bird.
sing to summer’s end
ALT: ink and crayon doodle of a chirping insect, like maybe a katydid because it’s bright green. it’s on a brown and green ground, under a pink and purple sky filled with dream writing that might be the chorus of summer singers around it.
distraction
ALT: ink and crayon doodle, showing a person in purple with a mask and wild hair trying to read a book. meanwhile, a bird is perched in their hair, and a tigery orange cat is reaching for it. the person seems more amused than annoyed, I think.
after a sculpture at Three Sisters Sanctuary in Goshen
ALT: ink and crayon. a sculpture resembling a tree with hoses for roots, perched on a rocky base in front of much greenery.
yesterday’s picture, but now with colors.
ALT: crayon colors added to the graphite drawing; graphite and watercolor. three faces so close that they are touching each other, the middle one is smiling widely and the other two are enjoying more quietly, and musical staves weave among them. I was fortunate to attend a concert of a trio led by John Zorn this evening. This drawing is not at all portraiture, but a representation of how wonderful it was to watch the communication and precision among the musicians as they produced sometimes gloriously chaotic-sounding noise.
And some of my newer darnstars, since today’s post is another retread.
