As I expected, life is getting full and busy again. It’s not the frantic busyness that usually afflicts the month of May, but compared to the past year the change is significant. It’s eating into the studio time I was enjoying, and that makes me a little cranky.
This is all by way of explaining why I’m posting an unfinished painting. I only had a couple of hours to work, and part of that was during an online meeting. And now I need to get to the tasks of this day, so I can maybe have a little more time for arting later.
Posted 5/23/21: I got some extra studio time, hooray!!
I used to do a lot of pencil shading, but realized partway into this drawing that it’s just not possible on a 9″ x 12″ page in the space of one drawing session. At least, not the way I do it.
Is it possible that now, after 10+ years of dailies, I’m edging my way back into longer form work? …..or maybe I’ve just fed my impatience for too long to turn back…..
I felt stymied by the blank paper. Made a couple of lines with my pencil, and this is what happened. One of the chorus of critics, perhaps? Someone with big opinions but no hands to make things happen?
Long day of trying to get numbers to agree with each other. In the evening I don’t want anything to be tidy or rational. So here’s a tiger with a flower, sort of. Unless it’s something else.
