Another long day with no home or studio time. I think this has something to do with guarding and protecting what is essential.

I spent the afternoon and evening at reunion concerts for the Bay State Hotel, which was the center of the Northampton independent music scene when we first moved there in the ’90’s. It was the best sort of reunion. There was touching into old connections and making new ones, rich with memories of shared and private joys and sorrows, all woven together with strands of music.

I was away from home/studio all day, which ended with a good rousing bout of singing at the Northampton Tuesday night Sacred Harp sing. I got home late, and went straight to my studio to do my drawing.

The point of daily practice is not to make a polished product  each day, but to keep the channels open. Sometimes when I don’t have the time to spend, I’m able to access a spontaneity that I really enjoy.
