friends a long time.
I just spent the weekend with three people I’ve been friends with since highschool, so 50 years now. This is not a portrait of us really, it’s more like a tribute.

waiting in your garden
ALT: crayon and ink drawing. A spring onion supports a butterfly in the upper left corner; a cartooney rabbit critter casts a wary eye toward a sort of spider. Some random lines of pale green triangles provide a sort of structure for the extra space in the drawing.
flock of arcs
ALT: crayon drawing. A swarm of green fish shapes, seen from above, swim through a series of interlaced circles and arcs. The fish actually started out as leaves, that’s probably why they’re green.
moon baby seeds
ALT: colored ink drawing, simple lines and shapes, mostly blues and greens with a few pink-orange spots. There’s a crescent moon up top, balanced on the leaves of a plant, which also enclose a compact oval-shape that could be a tiny person. there’s another, larger one, head downwards, off to the right. That one is in a water-drop shape, that is connected to the ground by a series of yellow droplets. I didn’t have anything profound in the front of my mind; I just wanted to relax into simple, pleasing shapes and colors.
hang the night on a janky scaffold
ALT: ink and graphite drawing, abstract. Some fat dark lines structure the page. There are shapes that could be sky, wires, stars and moon on the upper sections, and scribbly lines below that could be the energy of the town’s streets at night. Color is mostly blue, with yellow highlights.
how does this body work?
I confess I have been looking at reels of baby elephants in all their floppy awkward goofiness.
