The original post of this goes back a ways, to 17 July 2020. I’m back playing with color pencils, which take time to get the results I like, so it’s been slow going for a few days. This one was originally watercolor, now overlayed with the color pencil. It’s probably not finished, but I’m not sure how much more time I want to put into it.
Going back to the original pencil sketch, I’m not so sure this is an improvement. But, colors!
Hi Kate, I’ve done many large color pencil paintings so I’m well aware of how much time went into the colored version! Love the colors, but I also loved the pencil sketch. Glad you photographed the two of them. Now you didn’t truly lose anything if you wish you had stuck with the pencil drawing. Have you tried blending using either a blending pencil or some mineral spirits on a brush or Q-tip? You can produce nice effects that way too.
Hi Phoebe, I haven’t really explored color pencils extensively. I’ve never tried the mineral spirits blending, thanks for the suggestion!
