18 February 2014

Thinking about what blogger kestrelart said about my Feb 16 post, and wondering about the ways those of us with relatively comfortable lives desensitize ourselves to the news so that we can function in our daily lives

Meanwhile, here’s another collage from last Sunday:

Over the past few years of annual collage parties, I’ve been working on a deck of cards with images that evoke ways in which I get stuck, and ways in which I come free of being stuck. This one seems very apropos as i start clearing through 21 years of accumulated stuff and memories in preparation for moving from the house I live in.

  1. This is a beautiful, unsettling image (at the top). You have a wonderful and subtle use of colour.
    The collage is very powerful.
On February 16th, I came from the radio news to your image and saw what I had heard in your drawing. It moved me. I wish I knew how to respond to the traumas on the daily news. Can art help? What else should we be doing?
